Level 12: Gestation of the Yin Shen

結胎 · jie tai

The "spirit embryo" begins to form.

fragmentary Status A remark in passing, or a single student account. Time in grade Unknown. Body map The dan tien and the gates

Description

Both the Mo Pai literature and the classical neidan corpus describe the formation of an "immortal embryo" (sheng tai) in the dan tien — a second, subtle body gestated over a long period from the fused qi. In Mo Pai this is the precursor to the yin shen of the next band. Danaos discusses the yin-shen/yang-shen distinction at some length without pinning either to a number, which is why this level sits at "fragmentary" rather than "attested".
